From the President – August 2015

SSN Marketing From the President

Discover Denver was a great success. I know, I know…. I say that every year but this year we had more than 300 attendees, more CE, more sessions and more positive developments to talk about than ever before. Please help me in congratulating all of our outstanding award recipients this year:

  • Steven L. Coffey Award Winner, Kate Emling
  • SSN Employee of the Year, Greg Kalosieh
  • Advocacy Award Winner, Bill Sanderson

In addition to all of the CE, networking and idea sharing with peers, eating well and visiting a great city, this was the first opportunity for many SSN advisors to interact with members of Ladenburg Thalmann’s corporate management. There was much rejoicing when I shortened my traditional and usually boring state of the union address in favor of a Q&A session with Ladenburg’s CEO, Dick Lampen. All of the Ladenburg subsidiary companies: Premier Trust, Highland Capital Brokerage, Ladenburg Thalmann Asset Management (LTAM), Ladenburg Thalmann Co (LTCo) and Ladenburg Thalmann Fixed Income (LFIX) attended to show how they will support SSN advisors in meaningful new ways. This network of companies was assembled by Ladenburg to serve independent financial advisors, and they proved it by showing up at Discover in force and staying from start to finish. We also announced that we will Discover Amelia Island, FL in 2016. The schedule is a little different next year with the date being June 5-8, which is a Saturday through Wednesday, so mark your calendars and block off the time now.

Encompass, SSN’s fee-based model management platform, has now been in production for a little more than a year, and we just rolled out Separate Account Management. We also have Ladenburg Thalmann Asset Management’s (LTAM) LAMP models on the platform for advisors to use in their daily practice. Stay tuned as we continue to build out the tools available on Encompass. On deck; Unified Managed Accounts (UMA). For additional questions, contact Greg Kalosieh at extension 272.

I am also very pleased to mention that SSN was recently nominated for the technology award for our FOCALweb platform. Clearly credit for this recognition goes to Joe Simpson and his team for their outstanding execution of ideas born of necessity and creativity. The award presentation will be in September at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City.  To read more about this honor, please click here.

Congratulations to Landon Moore and Jack Montjoy. Landon was recently promoted to Business Development Specialist where he will be teaming with Tom Robison to recruit new advisors to SSN. Jack has been promoted to Transition Specialist, another critical role in the recruiting department, that oversees training and support of new advisors during the recruitment and onboarding process. Congratulations to Landon and Jack!

Thank you for your business,

Wade Wilkinson
